Web Design

I have spent almost as much time doing websites as I have being a professional artist, since my first site was my own back in 1998. Over the years I have done the sites of other artist, private investigators, paralegals, a charter jet company and adult product websites. Websites can be a very stressful project for most people. After all you are asking this person to create something that will be the calling card for your company to the millions of people who you hope will see it. It has been my experience that most people have dealt at one time or another with some well intentioned person who said they could do their website but then fell miserably short of the goal. How it works with me: I will sit down with you and figure out what you want the web page to do, what you want it to look like and what you are trying to say about your company. If you already have visual branding for you company, a logo or other artwork, we will plan to make that part of visuals for your web site too. I will use my graphic design skills to create custom graphics as needed. After our first meeting I will review what we discussed and determine how many pages you will need for the finished product, also your graphic and photographic needs. I will give you a quote for the cost of the pages and graphics to be created. I will come in at or under that quote unless changes are made that add to the time needed to complete the project. My rate is $25 per hour. Let me make it clear to you I am a designer, not a developer. If you are unsure of the difference let me explain. I take care of how a site looks and how it basically how it works but if you desire is to have a large complicated flash driven website, I can’t build it. For certain projects I have other people who can help with a more complicated situation but please understand you will need to pay them for their time too, and that can cost $75 an hour for specialized programming for web applications. Fear not, I will not spring this on you later we will know that before we even begin the work. If you have a website already I will work with you to get access to the site. If you don’t have a website yet I will be glad to help you the process of getting the domain name and the web hosting taken care of. While I will help you with this, please understand I will never own your site, I will always make sure everything to do with ownership is all yours. Too many times I have seen business’s and individuals get ripped off by a web designer who set up the website but kept the ownership of the domain, pretty much holding the client hostage. The first step will always be to come up with a “look” for your site. Each site should have its own stamp of individuality and yours will too. When I am happy with the look I will let you see it and see how you feel about the appearance before I go on with the work. When that has been approved the actual site building will begin. Here is the point where you decide if this process will succeed or not, content! Content is all the stuff you read in a website. I will not write your content; it must be done by the people or persons who “know” what they are talking about. It is the sticking points where most projects go wrong, the client is very excited until they figure out they actually have write information for the site. They put it off and put it off and then it never gets done. I will be glad to advice and work with anyone about the content but it will be your responsibility to get it done. The best way to handle it is for one person in your company to be the go to person on it and they should be committed to getting it done. I will make sure they are constantly updated and know what needs to be done. After the site is done I will be glad to make any corrections that are needed. I will also be glad to make updates or additions to the site in the future too, however that is an additional hourly charge. Below you will see some photos of site I have done and a few links to sites that you can see that I built. Those that don’t have a link are usually because the site is no longer on the web. The web can be a very fluid place and sadly many projects don’t last forever. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have or if you would like to get a quote for your web design. |
